Directional Wireless Beam Customer Traffic Counters
Description
Traf-Sys Wireless Directional
Infrared Beam customer traffic counters are easy to install and
offer directional traffic statistics. They can use wireless
communication to send traffic counts to a data controller without
the need for an a/c power source. You can use Traf-Sys Directional Infrared
retail traffic counters with the MIU-1000 data
controller to collect inbound and outbound traffic statistics.

Directional Wireless Beam Door Counter Placement and
Installation
Traf-Sys People Counting Wireless Directional
Infrared customer traffic counters are installed in entrances
up to 30 feet wide and 36 to 52 inches from the ground. The beams
should be installed in an area where the path of the beams is not
likely to be obstructed by doors, reflective surfaces or other
objects. When the traffic counters are blocked by objects, they are
unable to count. So, it is important to make sure the area where
the beams will be installed is free from obstacles. Reflective
surfaces such as glass and mirrors may cause interference with the
infrared detection pattern. So, it is recommended to mount your
infrared customer counters away from such surfaces.
The Directional Infrared
Beams detection pattern consists of two beams. The order in
which the beams are broken determines the direction of travel
recorded. Because of this mechanic, only Front-Firing versions of
the Directional Infrared traffic counters are available. Therefore,
it is recommended to mount these beams either on the inside of a
door frame (see image) or with a mounting bracket that will
allow you to attach the sensor to the wall. Mounting brackets for
the door counter beams are available upon request.
