Wireless Beam Retail Counters Placement and Installation

Traf-Sys People Counting Wireless Infrared Beams are installed in entrances up to 30 feet wide and 36 to 52 inches from the ground. The traffic counters should be installed in an area where the path of the beams is not likely to be obstructed by doors, reflective surfaces or other objects. When the traffic counters are blocked by objects, they are unable to count. So, it is important to make sure the area where the beams will be installed is free from obstacles. Reflective surfaces such as glass and mirrors may cause interference with the infrared detection pattern. So, it is recommended to mount your infrared beams away from such surfaces.

There are two types of Infrared Beams available, Front-Firing and Side-Firing. The type of wireless beam retail counters you use depends on the environment in which it will be installed and the surfaces available for mounting. Front-Firing traffic counters are typically installed within a door frame or on the walls of a corridor (see image). Side-Firing retail counters are typically installed on the wall inside a doorway (see image).
